RCC a Major Sponsor of the BDO Coot-tha Challenge 2011
River City Cycles has now been a major sponsor of Australia's most popular bicycle rides for the past three years. The BDO Brisbane Coot-tha Challenge is Australia's most unique ride. The 80km ride features the CLEM7 Tunnel, Inner City Bypass and 2.3km, 9% incline timed climb up Mt Coot-tha, this ride will challenge you.
Part of Bike Week, the BDO Coot-tha Challenge on the 20th March, runs concurrently with several shorter and more relaxed rides which offer an opportunity for everyone, regardless of skill or fitness level.
River City Cycles will also be running trainning sessions leading up to the ride. These sessions will be run by Craig Saunders and Maxine Seear. Craig is a former professtional bike rider himself and owns and runs River City Cycles. Maxine is an Olympic Triathlete from Athens 2004 and will be able to share her knowledge of training for an event. These sessions will be run at 6am from River City Cycles on the following dates:
Tuesday 8th March - STRENGTH. In this session we will work on strength while riding. Focussing on correct pedalling technique and how to build strength and get better and more comfortable riding hills.
Tuesday 15th March - CLIMBING. The focus of this session will be on Mt Coot-tha. We will do a lap of Mt Coot-tha practising our climbing and alsodoing a bit of a recon of the hill for people before actually tackling the mountain in the Mt Cooth-tha Challenge.
