Recently Australia's hardest one day cycling classic celebrated it's 50th edition. The race organisers held many events leading up to the race to recognise the achievements made by the riders and race organisers to create such a popular race on the Australian cycling calendar.
Past winners were invited back to the race to make a contribution to the 50th anniversary ceremonies. Riders dating as far back as the 1961, the inaugural race winner Alan Grindall. River City Cycles own store owner Craig Saunders winner of the 1994 edition of the race was also invited back to take part in the festivities.
The 50th edition was won by Nathean Earle from the Genesys Wealthe Advisers Cycling Team with Brendan Brooks and Sam Rutheerford in a close 2nd and third.
